Golden Hour Photography

Depending on the final look that you're aiming for, each type of light can work to your advantage as a photographer. Sunlight is commonly favored while overcast produces stunning images as well. However, if you're looking for a classic warm theme in your pictures, the "Golden Hour" is one of the best times to photograph portraits.

The Golden Hour is approximately an hour before the sunset. During this period, the sunlight is low so it's less harsh on the subject's face. You can place the subject facing the light or with their back towards the light to produce a nice "sun flare" effect. It's a great opportunity for a photographer to use their creativity in this unique lighting. This is another reason why many of my clients have preferred to shoot during the Golden Hour. This warm lighting is especially suitable for engagement sessions, wedding photography, senior portraits, etc.

I've included a few of my sample photos that were taken during the Golden Hour. Please feel free to contact me about having a sessions shot during this time of the day.
